TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Softball won its first game of the season, 9-1, in five innings a walk off single by freshman
Emily Schepp to beat Utah Tech at the Candrea Classic.
The Wildcats (1-0) tallied seven hits against the Trailblazers including a first-inning home run by
Carlie Scupin. Freshman

Kaiah Altmeyer each recorded two RBI in the game.

Miranda Stoddard (1-0) picked up her first win of the season. She pitched four innings and struck out one batter.
Aissa Silva pitched 0.1 innings and struck out the one batter she faced.
Utah Tech scored first on a solo home run in the first inning. Scupin answered in the bottom of the first with a solo homer - her first home run of the season.
Arizona scored four runs in the fourth inning for a 5-1 lead in the game. With the bases loaded, Altmeyer drew an RBI walk followed by Shockey's two-run single – her first collegiate hit.
Dakota Kennedy drove in the fourth run of the inning on an RBI single to center field.
The Wildcats plated five runs in the fifth to win the game.
Blaise Biringer brought in the first run by drawing a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch and Altmeyer drove in the next run on a sacrifice fly. Schepp hit an RBI single to score Perezchica and Biringer scored on a throwing error by the Trailblazers.

Arizona continues the Candrea Classic with a double-header on Friday, Feb. 9. The Wildcats will face Lipscomb at 4 p.m. MST and North Texas at 6 p.m. MST at Hillenbrand Stadium.
