No. 11 Arizona Drops Game One to No. 18 LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. – No. 11 Arizona fell in the first game, 4-1, to No. 18 LSU on Friday night. The Wildcats dropped to 29-10 on the season following the loss.
 
Arizona totaled five hits and drew a pair of walks but only plated one run in the opening game of the non-conference series. Regan Shockey went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Arizona's offense.
 
In the first inning, the Cats scored one run after Sereniti Trice took advantage of a throwing error and scored on the play to give the Cats an early lead.
 
Arizona kept LSU off the board through two innings, but the Tigers took the lead in the bottom of the third after a three-run home run.
 
The Wildcats had runners on base in the following innings but couldn't bring home a run. In the sixth, LSU added one run to take a 4-1 with an RBI single through the right side.
 
Jenae Berry picked up the loss to fall to 3-1 on the season. She pitched the first 2.1 innings, allowing the three-run home run and three walks before Rylie Holder entered in relief. Holder went 3.1 innings, allowing just one run on three hits and striking out two batters before Berry re-entered in the sixth and walked the final batter for LSU before the defense caught a runner stealing to end the inning.
