Cats Face Utah On The Road For First Pac-12 Meet

NAU/Hawai'i Recap
The women's swimming and diving team defeated both NAU (222-77) and Hawai'i (232-68) in the first meet of the season. Arizona won 13 of the 16 events, sweeping the podium in three of those (100 breast, 50 free, 100 fly). The Cats had more than one swimmer in the top-three spots in 11 individual events.  

The men opened up the season with a victory over Hawai'i, 192-105. The Cats won 11 of the 16 events. At least two swimmers finished in the top three in nine individual events. In six of those events, the men went 1-2-3-4 (100 breast, 200 fly, 50 free, 100 free, 200 breast, 500 free).

Looking at the Competition
Utah women's swimming is coming off of a win against Oregon State, 157-96. Sophomore Jordan Anderson and Senior Stina Colleou won two events each for Utah. Anderson was victorious in the 200 fly (2:05.16) and 500 free (5:07.70). Colleou finished first in the 100 breast (1:04.29) and 200 breast (2:18.48).

The men's and women's swimming team also competed in the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational and Intermountain Shootout. The men took second overall while the women placed fifth at the FGCU Invitational.

History versus Utah
Arizona last faced Utah in Salt Lake City to open up the 2013-14 season. The women earned a decisive victory, 204-96 while the men lost a close meet, 148-152.

Arizona Freshmen Start Strong
The season looks promising as four freshmen landed in the top three in five different events for the women in their first collegiate meet. Meanwhile, three freshmen finished on the podium in four events for the men.

Women:
Kirsten Jacobsen finished first in the 1,000 free (10:13.32) and second in the 500 free (4:59.73).
Hannah Cox earned victories in the 200 free (1:50.77) and 500 free (4:59.60). She was also runner-up in the 1,000 free with 10:20.53.
Kennedy Lohman won the 100 breast with a time of 1:03.53.
Mallory Korenwinder placed third in both the 100 breast (1:04.76) and 200 breast (2:25.18).

Men:
Jerad Kaskawal started off with a win in the 1,000 free (9:43.57) and later took third in the 500 free (4:44.61).
Brendan Meyer was runner-up in the 200 fly with a time of 1:52.34.
Thomas Anderson placed third in the 100 back, touching in 49.71.
